Petition to Restore Access to Lighthouse Beach
In 1960, the Coos County Commission vacated [gave up] the public beach access that had been used for decades to access Lighthouse Beach. The public was unaware of this vacation and had been continuously using this important beach access. In March 2021, a fence went up that impeded access and has resulted in broad community conflict and concern. Since the County historically created a public easement establishing a regular pattern of beach access and later vacated that easement, we the undersigned believe that it is the County’s responsibility to restore this regular pattern of use and access that has been used by generations of Coos County residents.

We, the undersigned concerned citizens, urge Coos County to act now to restore permanent public access to Lighthouse Beach.
