LAB Incredibly Chill Art Share Sign Up Form - February 23 2024
Join us for our 2nd Ever Incredibly Chill Art Share on Friday, February 23, 2-4 pm ETYou are welcome to attend the entire gathering or just a portion. Join us to take in the art or as a presenter!

The Incredibly Chill Art Share will offer space for folks to share something, anything that they’d like! It could be a poem, quote, a draft of a new work, a work of art you love, a painting, a short dance clip or captioned video, a recipe...anything. This can be yours or someone else's. If it is someone else's, we just ask that you credit the person who created it. Use the space to practice making your art more accessible for disability communities! LAB Co-Producers are available to offer guidance and some support for presenters as they share the responsibility with us of centering accessibility at the gathering.

The Sign Up Period to Present at the Art Share has Closed.

The Art Share will be LAB Hangout-style. A Hangout is an open-structured virtual social space for disabled artists to connect and get to know one another. Hangouts offer space to talk about disability, art making, creative practices, dreams, desires, disability wisdom, and more. LAB Producers, morgaine and Camisha, loosely guide the gathering. You are welcome to come and go when and as you please.

General Outline of Schedule (all in eastern standard time)
2:00 pm: virtual space opens, welcome and opening comments
2:20 pm - 3:40 pm: incredibly chill art share happens
3:40 pm - 4:00 pm: closing, transition to end of art share

ABOUT THE SPACE
LAB gatherings are specifically for artists and creatives who identity with or who have personal experience with disability, including but not limited to those who identify as chronically ill, neurodivergent, having learning or intellectual disabilities, MAD, Deaf/deaf/HOH, Blind, low vision, and on. This cross-disability space welcomes all who are unsure or who might not yet identify with disability identity and culture.

ACCESS & COMMUNITY AGREEMENTS
CART & ASL will be provided. Please let us know if you have a preferred ASL interpreter (or connect us to them before the event) and we’ll do our best to book them.

Open description of visuals will be in practice and the chat will be read aloud.

Before, during, and/or after the event, please feel free to contact us about any access needs or desires.

Coming and going as needed and desired is welcome.

You’re welcome to be on or off camera, stim, lie down, eat, drink, and participate in whatever way suits your needs and desires on that day.

For Hangouts, there will be no music and we ask that everyone keep their mic off when not actively communicating. Please also take care to avoid introducing background sounds such as loud noises, music, singing, construction sounds, sirens, etc into the space. If music is to be played at Open Call or Art Share gatherings, we let people know in advance.

While LAB Co-Producers (Camisha & morgaine) will provide base-line access support & community care, we welcome collective effort on these fronts knowing the highest level of safety in the space is possible when we all take care of each other.

There will be no pressure or expectation to disclose information about your health or disability. Share (or don’t share) at whatever level you are comfortable. Remember and respect that not everyone will want to disclose personal info.

Before sharing any potentially triggering information or art, we ask that you give a content warning and allow a few beats for folks to turn their volume down and do whatever is necessary to take care of themselves.

If you notice you’ve spoken more than once and there are others who haven’t spoken at all, consider hanging back a bit to give space for others to contribute. Some folks may need more time and silence to decide to jump into conversation.

If something is said or done during the gathering that makes you uncomfortable, we welcome you to say so during or after the gathering. Discomfort is often a great teacher and we welcome opportunities to deepen understanding and awareness through LAB.

Lastly, we acknowledge that disability is a very large umbrella and we invite you to honor our difference.

For any questions related to access or LAB in general, contact one of the Co-Producers and Access space holders: morgaine at morgaine@kineticlight.org or Camisha at camisha@kineticlight.org. Before, during, and/or after the event, you are welcomed to contact us about any access needs or desires.
