Adopters must be 18 years of age or older. We encourage families with children to adopt however parents need to be aware the animal will ultimately be their responsibility.
House of Pancakes Reptile Rescue will not ship animals. We do not have a distance limitation for adopters, as long as they are able and willing to travel to Poughkeepsie, NY to pick up their new scaly family member.
Proof of an enclosure, halogen heat lamp, and appropriate UVB lighting will be required prior to approval of your application.
Once approved, please make arrangements to pick up your new family member WITHIN ONE WEEK. With a growing surrender waitlist we can no longer hold healthy animals for weeks or months.
We do our best to screen for health concerns but of course a health guarantee cannot be offered.
The animal MUST be returned to HoP in the event you are no longer able to care for it. We will take it back for any reason at all, whether it be incompatibility, health, financial, or personal reasons. No time limitation. No questions asked.
You agree rescued animals will not be used for breeding.
You agree to provide appropriate care, including seeking out veterinary care should the need arise.
We have a “name your own” adoption fee policy with a minimum suggested donation of $50. Donations keep us going!
