Do you have a preliminary OK from your administration / leadership to go on a GCY program? (It's okay if you are still working for approval, let us know how we can help!)
Most of the river sections we run require a government permit, with specific launch dates, to do so. GCY does our best to acquire a river permit that works for your schedule. Our ability to get specific launch dates vary by river section. We start the permitting process early, and maintain good relationships with other outfitters so that we can try to accommodate your needs; however, when permit trades are not possible you may be asked for flexibility within your schedule. Having multiple options available helps us secure a permit that works for everyone! Please consider one travel day before and after your program if you are coming from out of town.
When is your first choice launch date?
When is your second choice launch date?
When is your third choice launch date?
How many youth do you expect to participate in this program?
Do you need GCY to provide transportation (vehicles & drivers) for this program, or will your organization be providing transportation?
We will provide transportation for this river program (meeting GCY staff at the river)
We will provide transportation for this river program (meeting GCY staff at the river), but may need help shuttling our vehicles from the put-in to the take-out
We will need GCY to provide transportation for this river program (meeting GCY staff in Flagstaff)
We will need GCY to provide transportation both from the airport (PHX or FLG), and to / from the river program
I am not sure yet
Part of participating in a GCY program is providing youth with the opportunity to 'buy into' the program for themselves through fundraising. What is your capacity for fundraising?
We have a lot of experience fundraising and feel confident in our abilities
We have done a little fundraising in the past, but this would be a new endeavor
We live in an area / or serve a demographic that has little or no capacity for fundraising
Based on the demographics of the youth you are organizing, what is your anticipated financial need?
Generally speaking, students and families will not have difficulties paying for their GCY program
I can think of a few students who may need opportunities for financial aid, but the rest will likely be able to pay without problems
Roughly half of the students will need opportunities for financial aid
The majority of students will need opportunities for financial aid
My sense is, if we do not fund raise, receive grants, or other financial support, the likelihood of this trip happening is very slim
At times, and on a limited basis, GCY may be able to apply for grants to support programs based on their educational goals. Which of the following are of interest to you and your students for this program?
STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math)
Healthy Lifestyles, Mindfulness, Well being
Diversity in the Wilderness
Art, Creative Disciplines
Scientific Research, Citizen Science
Water Usage / Quality
Native Peoples / Archaeology
Thank you! We look forward to seeing you on the river in 2018!
