An online Payment portal will be presented upon submission of the application.
MTNA active membership dues must be paid before submission of the application. Entrants will be assessed a $150 nonmember teacher fee if the membership is not paid for the 2020– 2021 membership year.
Students must have studied with the presenting teacher for at least six of the last nine months preceding the event. In the event of illness or relocation out of the area, the new teacher may present the student with written authorization by the previous teacher
STUDENT CLASSIFICATIONS:
Elementary Composition : ages 5 – 10 as of October 1, 2022
Elementary Performance: ages 8 - 10 as of October 1, 2022 (10 minute Time limit)
Junior High: ages 11-14 as of October 1, 2022 (20 Minute Time Limit)
Senior High: ages 15-18 as of October 1, 2022 (20 Minute Time Limit)
Collegiate: Students no older than 26 years of age as of October 1, 2022 (30 Minute Time Limit)
ENTRANT CATEGORIES: Solo performance areas include piano, voice, strings, brass, and woodwinds. Students may enter in composition provided that ALL stipulations mandated by MTNA are met (e.g., PDF scores must be computer generated using music notation; handwritten scores will not be accepted; and MIDI files are required) – visit the following for complete details:

Suggested program to be of diverse repertoire representing two or more styles of traditional works for a particular instrument of study.
* For the elementary performance division, simplifications are acceptable for age related difficulties for the repertoire such as, but not restricted to, piano octaves maybe reduced to single notes if a pianist's hands are not developed enough to play them fully. Judges will approach each instance with care.

*Teachers who enter students for the WVMTA Mountain State Competition MUST register for the conference and may be asked to assist with monitoring, registration, or other duties set forth by the Competitions Chair.
