Please sign up here if your student is interested in participating in intramurals. Intramurals will take place at Woodland Intermediate as noted in each of the options. Participation in each program is dependent on availability. Your student can sign up for ONE intramural at this time (you can list your first, second, and third preferences)*. Teachers will send more detailed information once your student is a confirmed participant in the program. Club participation is limited to a number of participants depending on the activity. If we have more applicants than spots, students will be selected through a random lottery. More intramural/club opportunities will be available throughout the school year. Stay tuned!

*if there is additional space after everyone gets at least one activity, then students will be allowed to do more than one, and allowed to be added to rosters after the due date if roster space is available.

Animation Film Club, E228, Tuesday & Thursday: It is an activity that will allow our students to expand their knowledge of animated films, both in English and Spanish, through a journey through films that have marked an era. In all cases, the content will be qualified for all audiences, especially for children, paying special attention to titles that promote emotional education. In this space, students will be able to enjoy animated films of all times, accompanied by a subsequent space for discussion and reflection that will help them in their emotional growth. It will also broaden their general film culture, since many of them have only been able to see recent animated films, and will improve their critical sense and ability to express opinions based on reasoning. Finally, it will also provide a space for students from English-speaking households to access more age-appropriate content in Spanish. One film will be shown every three sessions (two for viewing and one for reflection and discussion). Among other titles proposed are: Pinocchio, Shrek, Up, Tadeo Jones (Spanish production, second and third part), How to train your dragon, Inside Out, Coco, Enchantment, etc.
The club will continue with the screenings of the films that so far have not been possible to watch due to lack of time.
Club de Cine de Animación, E228, Martes y Jueves: Se trata de una actividad que permitirá a nuestros alumnos ampliar sus conocimientos sobre el cine de animación, tanto en inglés como en español, a través de un recorrido por películas que han marcado una época. En todos los casos, los contenidos estarán dirigidos a todos los públicos, especialmente al infantil, prestando especial atención a los títulos que promueven la educación emocional. En este espacio, los alumnos podrán disfrutar de películas de animación de todos los tiempos, acompañadas de un espacio posterior de debate y reflexión que les ayudará en su crecimiento emocional. Además, ampliará su cultura cinematográfica general, ya que muchos de ellos sólo han podido ver películas de animación recientes, y mejorará su sentido crítico y su capacidad para expresar opiniones basadas en el razonamiento. Por último, también será un espacio para que los alumnos de hogares donde se habla inglés puedan acceder a contenidos en español más apropiados para su edad. Se proyectará una película cada tres sesiones (dos de visualización y una de reflexión y debate). Entre otros títulos propuestos se encuentran: Pinocho, Shrek, Up, Tadeo Jones (producción española, segunda y tercera parte), Cómo entrenar a tu dragón, Inside Out, Coco, Encantada, etc.

The DIY Craft Creation Club aims to inspire creativity, build fine motor skills, and promote self-expression through engaging and fun hands-on craft activities. Our club will foster collaboration, inclusivity, and pride in handmade creations. Open to students in Grades 4th and 5th who are interested in exploring their creative side through various craft projects. This club is inclusive of all skill levels and abilities.

Performers are invited to lip sync and/or dance to their favorite school–appropriate song for the show. Choreography, costumes, and theme are up to you! The length of your routine will be determined by the number of acts that sign up (usually about 1 minute each). You may choose your own groups, or form a group at the information meeting.

Mystery Book Club, E104, Tuesday & Thursday, Feb - May. The students will be reading and discussing a mystery novel that has math and art connections, called Chasing Vermeer. This is a great book that is set in Chicago. It has two students who work together to solve puzzles and eventually solve a case of a missing painting from The Art Institute.

This will be done with drill work, volleyball-related activities, and gameplay.

Care 4 My Hair, E128, Wednesday's twice a month: Care for My Hair Club is a unique space dedicated to teaching members how to properly care for their hair. From learning how to part hair to understanding which products are beneficial and harmful, this club covers every aspect of hair care. Members will also discover the ideal frequency for washing their hair and will have the opportunity to experiment with various styles. In each session, members will watch informative DIY videos, engage in discussions about different hairstyles, and share tips on quick and time-consuming hairdos. They will also have the chance to practice these styles on each other, allowing for hands-on learning and creativity. By the end of their time in the club, members will have the confidence to experiment with different hairstyles and will proudly proclaim that they styled their hair themselves. Care for My Hair Club is not only educational but also empowering, setting its members on the path.
Cuidado para mi cabello, E128, los Miércoles dos veces al mes: El Club Care for My Hair es un espacio único dedicado a enseñar a sus miembros cómo cuidar adecuadamente su cabello. Este club cubre todos los aspectos del cuidado del cabello, desde aprender a dividirlo hasta comprender qué productos son beneficiosos y cuáles perjudiciales.
