How can sex workers take control of their health within systems that stigmatize and criminalize them? How can a harm reduction approach enable health providers to better care for sex workers? Drawing from their experiences in grassroots sex worker organizations, Sophia Coleman (Sex Workers Outreach Project Los Angeles) and Claire Macon (Project Weber/RENEW & Ocean State Advocacy) will discuss community health education, health equity and access, reproductive justice, and mutual aid. As organizers who have also published scholarship on these topics, they will also share insights on how to conduct research with sex workers using methodologies such as participatory action research, ethnography, interviews, and surveys.
