DOC Adventure Funding
PLEASE READ ALL THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY!!

We expect each proposal to contain the information noted in the Adventure Fund Proposal Guidelines (linked here - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1sH0dHb4lYchZX1BN2rqQyJPst0FcZZcfeByY5aQFyzE/edit?tab=t.0).
Incomplete proposals will not be considered for funding.

Please note what funds you wish to be considered for (selecting only ones appropriate for your particular application).

Each member of your group can submit this form to receive their portion of the proposed award. You may, if you choose, submit one form for your group with the total amount, but be aware of the tax implications -this award is considered taxable income. This likely won't affect most of you, but it is your responsibility to know for sure.

- ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST FILL OUT AN ASSUMPTION OF RISK FORM (form is linked to the Adventure Fund Proposal Guidelines) and a water comfort assessment (also linked in guidelines). If you submit one form, make sure that all participants sign it. Your application will be considered incomplete if all AORs are not signed.

You must submit this form and your trip proposal the Sunday BEFORE the Directorate/Leadership (DOC, Ledyard, VHOC, POCO) meeting in WEEK 4 of the term. Please submit it as a google doc, putting the link below.

PLEASE NOTE: Even if you are seeking additional funding, submit this form and your documents right away. If you receive additional funding, have the awarding body let OPO know and we will simply add it to your award. DO NOT SUBMIT THIS FORM MULTIPLE TIMES. Your funding can be approved ONLY AFTER your trip has been reviewed by Directorate, Outdoor Programs, and Risk Management.

Funding Disbursement *
- If your application is awarded funding, it will be subsequently reviewed by the Student Risk Management Committee, and possibly by the OPO Risk Management Advisory Committee. Comments will be made directly on your submitted proposal and you will be notified. It is your responsibility to address those comments directly on the document. Please do so promptly.

- Once it is approved, you will be sent a form to fill out with an assumption of risk form, a water comfort assessment, and some questions about you and your trip. Your funding will not be disbursed until you have completed those forms.

- If your trip is international, OPO will register your itinerary with the college system. You will be notified, and should double check that the information is correct.

- We strongly recommend securing your own travel/evac insurance, as Dartmouth's ISOS program may not cover your activities and medical evac can be tens of thousands of dollars in an emergency.

- Funds will be distributed after all review and paperwork is complete. You will receive an e-mail from JP Morgan, the company that processes the college's payments. It may end up in your spam folder. This message will have instructions on how to transfer the payment to your account.

- These awards are considered taxable income, and Dartmouth will issue the payee a form during tax season. For most students, this shouldn't be an issue, and you can recoup the taxes under the basic personal deduction, but this depends on your individual circumstances.  If you wish to have the funding divided among your group, please Note here
