What is Spartan Racing and Formula SAE?
Spartan Racing is the student chapter of SAE International at San Jose State University. We are a collegiate design team that design, builds, and manufactures an electric formula-style open wheel race car. Our organization consists of various engineering disciplines, science disciplines, and business students. Our team works year-round investing an immense amount of time between classes and work to build our entry into the Formula SAE competition.

Subteams:
Aerodynamics - Designs parts on the car that create downforce and reduce drag such as the front and rear wing, canards, and sidepods.
Business - Handles logistics, marketing, and finances for the team.
Chassis - Designs and creates a rigid skeleton for the car so that the other subteams can mount parts onto it.
Electronics - Responsible for designing and installing all of the analog and digital circuits in the car so that the necessary electronics will work and output data properly.
EV Powertrain - Designs the systems that makes the car move: Motor, Accumulator (Battery), Final Drive.
Software - Programs the electronic components so that they behave properly when the car is in different states. Also responsible for data collection and logging.
Suspension - Designs everything that controls the kinematics of the vehicle i.e. brakes, suspension, steering.
