PEECH (Preschool and Early Education for Children of Hopewell) Program Application for the 2026-2027 School Year

Please fill out this form for the general education preschool program admission process. New and returning students should complete the form. An application is not a guarantee for admission.

The application is due Friday, February 27th, 2026. You will hear about acceptance by email on Friday March 27th, 2026. By Friday April 3rd, 2026, all accepted students will be asked to respond to the acceptance email with their intentions. New registrants MUST register their children by Friday May 22nd! It is a lengthy registration process so please start early.

Please read below prior to completing the form:

1. If you have concerns about your child's development, please e-mail Dottie Dicheck dorothydicheck@hvrsd.org for a Pre-School Parent Referral Form.  You can also complete this form to apply for general education admission.

2. Your child MUST be 3 years old by October 1, 2026, and not of school-age (5 years) on or before October 1, 2026. If your child has a third birthday between September 8, 2026, and October 1st, 2026, your child must wait until the third birthday to start. This means All AM students must be three once they start, and will need to miss the first days or weeks of school if they turn 3 between September 8 & October 1st. The children practice their new routine all month long and it is never a problem to join after the first day!

3. PEECH will operate on the Hopewell Valley Regional School District calendar. The first day of school may start after elementary start date, likely September 8th. The schedule is as follows:

Bear Tavern & Hopewell: Monday–Friday 9:00-11:30 for AM session; students ages 3 turning 4

Bear Tavern & Hopewell: Monday–Friday 12:30-3:00 for PM sessions; students ages 4 turning 5

Toll Gate & Stony Brook Monday-Friday 9:00-3:00 ages 3-5; Lunch may be packed or purchased from the cafeteria. Lunch will be provided for those who qualify for free and reduced lunch.  There will be a built in rest time.

4. There are four Fridays there is no pre-school in session due to collaboration/PD days for staff. These days will be given by August 2026.

5. I understand the annual cost for the 2026-27 school year will be $5000.00 at Bear Tavern and Hopewell. The tuition for Stony Brook and Toll Gate's full day programs is $10,000. Families who qualify for free and reduced lunch may apply for reduced tuition at the business office at 425 South Main Street.

6. Optional transportation is available for an additional fee of $986 (must be two ways).  This fee is subject to change as per 2026-2027 budget adoption. You must fill out the alternate busing form found on the website in order to declare your need with the transportation department.    

7.  Preference is given to returning students (AM students moving to PM).  All families, new and returning, should fill out the form.

All students will go to their home school unless there is low enrollment in one location.  Busing is provided free of charge for students who have IEPs.  Busing is a fee of $986 for the year and only available if the child is at their home school. Please read the following information carefully:

Students must be 3 by October 1, 2026 and must not start before their third birthday.

Bear Tavern and Hopewell will have half day programs, while Stony Brook and Toll Gate will pilot full day programs (9-3).  

This application is due Friday, February 27th, 2026. You will hear about acceptance by email on Friday March 13, 2026, and be asked to accept and register (if you are a new student) with the district's registrar's office by Friday April 3rd.   

Students who do not have special needs should be progressing toward toilet training by September 2026.

I understand the annual cost for the 2026-27 school year will be $5000.00 for Bear Tavern and Hopewell and $10,000 for Stony Brook and Toll Gate. Payment plans are available.

I understand that optional transportation is available for an additional fee of $986  (same price for one way as it is for two ways). You may contact Talaia Owens, Director of Transportation, for further information regarding transportation at transportation@hvrsd.org.  Transportation must be decided by June 18, 2026.
