With FED Talk by Joshua Krug
Abraham Joshua Heschel was one of the most important figures of 20th century Judaism. After coming to the USA, he authored works such as God in Search of Man, taught Jewish Ethics at JTS, and marched in Selma alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In this talk, Josh Krug will paint a picture of Heschel as a reader of Exodus. Josh will help us come to understand the variety of interpretations of Exodus offered by Heschel, as well as the variety of his methods of interpretation. In such a way, he will help us come to appreciate the power of Exodus for Heschel, and for ourselves as interpreters, artists, and activists in 2017.

Josh earned a B.A. with Honors and Distinction from Yale and an MDiv from Harvard. His doctoral work at NYU engages how traditional and contemporary Jewish sources can animate and inform the lives of diverse young adults. Josh teaches high school and college Jewish Studies courses, and designs and facilitates adult educational sessions, modules, and retreats.
