Basketball camp is for all students entering Grades 5-8 who wish to play the game. Sessions 1 and 2 are designed to complement one another. A student may attend one or all sessions. The first session will begin with a focus on fundamental techniques, including dribbling, shooting, and offensive/defensive tactics. This will be followed by an introduction/review of the game rules and the concept of team play, as well as actual playing time. The second session will offer the same material, but a greater emphasis will be placed on team play. In all cases, the coaches will adjust the programming as needed to meet the players at their level. Students should finish the camp with a familiarity of the game and their own abilities, and an understanding of what they can practice to improve their skills. Players who wish to play on a middle or high school team in the upcoming school year are particularly encouraged to attend. Children should bring their basketball shoes and a snack.
Coaches: Audree Davis & Tre Brooks (Girls); Koji Vroom (Boys)
