To participate in the program, you should meet the following requirements:
1. Completion of Oral Storytelling 101 and attendance at 2 of our events (events include special workshops, live storytelling events, or virtual open mics / story labs).
2. Ability to attend all of the initial virtual training sessions: May 1, 8, 15, 22 @ 6 PM – 8:30 PM PT.
3. Commitment of 6 months to the program (May 1 - Nov 30. This entails attending the initial training as well as monthly virtual check-in sessions and one-on-one meetings, as well as a commitment to lead OR work as a support staff at two workshop events during 2023. Approximate time commitment for the 2022 year: 20-40 hours total (depending on number of workshops you help to lead or staff).
4. Desire to impact your community through personal true storytelling.
Preferred traits but not required:
(The most competitive applications will include these traits, but it is not a requirement to be accepted into the program).
5. You have completed Oral Storytelling 201 with Capital Storytelling.
6. You have shared a story on stage (physical or virtual) at one of our events (e.g., open mic, live main event, or at story lab).
After the initial training period in May, we will set up group meetings where we will continue to support you in your development and growth as an Ambassador and leader. We will also set up one-on-one meetings with each Ambassador to support you in scheduling and leading or helping at at least 2 workshops or events. These workshops or events can be in-person (following COVID guidelines) or virtual.
