Black Disabled In Higher Ed Discord Member Form
The @DisInHigherEd Team has created a specific discord server space for Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, and other racial/ethnic minorities who are also disabled in higher education. For individuals who are interested in joining the Discord server, we ask that you fill out this form. Once we receive it, we will send you a link via email or Twitter DM.
This Discord server was designed by several of the @DisInHigherEd Team who live at the intersection of Black and Disabled. It was created to be a safe space for those who live at the intersection of race and disability to share their thoughts/experiences and build community. We recognize that those who live at this intersection often don't have community spaces to talk to others that live at the intersection of race and disability.
We ask that those outside this intersection to please respect that this community is not for them. There are other community Discord servers for disabled individuals in higher education, including one created by the Disabled Academic Collective (@DisabledAcadem).
You are not required to disclose your disability, if you would not like to. We recognize disclosure as a personal decision and so, many may feel better not disclosing your disability. We also recognize self-diagnosis are valid disabilities, so those who are self-diagnosed and live at this intersection are welcome to join the Discord server. People of all personal and academic backgrounds/levels are welcome to join the server.
Below are a few questions to help us get to know you and help us with organizing. We take your privacy seriously, and no one outside our team will see your information. Mandatory questions are marked with an asterix (*).
