Sound Thinking NYC * Recommendation
DEADLINE: MONDAY, MAY 21, 2018

RECOMMENDATION FOR A STUDENT APPLICANT
All applicants are required to have two recommendations, at least one from a teacher. The second recommendation can be from anyone who knows the applicant; for instance, an additional teacher, parent, coach, employer, mentor, or a friend.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Funded by the Mayor's Office for Media and Entertainment (MOME) as part of a series of initiatives targeting the under-representation of women in entertainment, Sound Thinking NYC is a new major initiative to address gender disparities in the music industry by providing opportunities for young people - especially young women - to explore career opportunities in the music industry. Participants will also learn leadership and workplace readiness skills; graduates of the program will be offered additional opportunities, such as paid internships and free college credit courses.

The Sound Thinking NYC Summer Intensive program runs from July 9-27, 2018, and is for current 10th & 11th grade students who will be entering 11th or 12th grade in fall 2018. This three-week, full-day (9am-3pm) summer program will include sessions at CAT's education spaces as well as visits to sites throughout the city, such as museums, music industry venues and sound production studios.

Sound Thinking NYC is a program offered by the Creative Arts Team (CAT) at the City University of New York (CUNY), in partnership with New York is Music. For more information, visit www.soundthinkingnyc.org.
