David Roseburr Vocational Scholarship

This scholarship is provided by David Roseburr, a 2005 graduate of University Academy who went to a vocational school after graduating from University Academy and now owns a successful landscaping business. David struggled to pay for his vocational school tuition and wishes to alleviate this burden for others. Additionally, he wishes he had someone experienced in the trades to guide him as he navigated his career and that is why he is committed to providing ongoing mentorship to the scholarship recipient. 

The Roseburr Vocational Scholarship through University Academy Foundation (UAF) is a competitive scholarship available exclusively for University Academy students. This scholarship is intended to reduce the financial burden of attending a vocational school to learn a trade. The scholarship provides a one-time $1,000 award as well as mentorship during and after graduation from the vocational school.  The award will be paid directly to the recipient's education institution.  

The awardee will be announced at University Academy's Senior Night.

Scholarship Criteria
Successful applicants will show that they have pursued and achieved challenging goals and are motivated to attend a vocational school to learn a trade. 

Specific indicators used to evaluate candidates include:
  • Minimum HS GPA of 2.0
  • Demonstrated leadership and personal grit
  • Demonstrated interest in specific vocational field
  • Understanding of the mentoring relationship
