Application for the DJ-School at Super
The DJ-School at Super aims to create and facilitate a space where new DJs can learn, practice and talk about the act and craft of DJ’ing, in a safe and intimate environment.
What's our DJ School?
The concept of the school is that, through learning and sharing in small groups consisting of 3-4 participants and a mentor/teacher, we work towards establishing a confident, reflective and diverse skill set within the DJ realm, where you as a participant (hopefully) can work towards having your own broadcasted DJ-set through our Radio Super.
Who are our mentors?
Our mentors are a handful of local DJs from varying backgrounds and different levels of experience. They are focused on the skills surrounding club music but their taste obviously goes way wider than that.
We will discuss both technical and cultural responsibilities of the DJ-craft. That includes basic knowledge of different DJ- and mixing gear, how to manage a record collection, digital vs analog DJ'ing, appearance through performance, mixing techniques, composition and dynamics, aesthetics, the privilege and responsibility of DJ'ing, representation in the music culture, queernes, etc. We focus on mixing by ear and beat matching on CDJs and turntables.
We want to create a safe and intimate space where we can all learn from where we stand, and hopefully move forward to become better at expressing ourself through the love of music.
Practically this form is just a tool for us to get in touch with all interested and thereby creating a waiting list for all potential participants. "first come, first serve".

Soooo... what's gonna happen?
Our DJ School is free.
Most teams will meet 3-6 times, depending on how things progress. Some meetings are more practice oriented and others will be more knowledge oriented.
A team will meet on Mondays or Tuesdays after 16, but you will coordinate with your mentor once you are placed on a team.
However we'd like to be flexible.
