Bill 33 puts school boards under provincial supervision, removing democratically elected trustees and moving decision making about education behind closed doors, where Doug Ford's buddies can decide the future of our children's education. It also includes cutting funding for university programs like food banks, student mental health supports, and sexual assault centres. Bill 33 is a distraction from the fact that schools like Elizabeth Zielger are literally crumbling, the $1500 per student funding gap, and the broken special education funding model. It promotes putting police in schools instead of providing students with various needs with the special education and ESL supports they need to thrive.
Join us for an education foot canvass (training provided!) to inform our neighbours about how this government is impacting schools and students in Ontario and to gather signatures on petitions to help fight back. Then, stick around for some social time together!
