Period Product Access in NJ Schools
Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey about availability and access to period products at your school. Your answers to this survey will inform legislation aimed at providing period products free of charge in bathrooms in all New Jersey public middle and high schools. Research shows that students who do not have access to period products miss valuable instruction time; however, the extent of problem in New Jersey schools is unknown.
Two separate bills have been introduced in the NJ Senate and NJ Assembly at this time:
NJ Senate Bill:
NJ Assembly Bill:
Equality Period NJ is a statewide coalition of groups working to advance Menstrual Equity in New Jersey through legislation. Our mission is to remove Period Stigma, Period Poverty and barriers to Period Product access through policy change and advocacy. Our members reflect a wide scope of New Jersey populations that work on these issues, and include medical providers, legal experts, policy experts, community-based organizations, youth-led movements and groups that fight for rights of menstruating individuals across the state.
The information you provide will be compiled to assess the need for free period products in NJ public schools and used by coalition members to provide testimony in support of the above bills. No individual survey information will be shared with the public. Public reports will not include your contact information or any identifying facts. Instead, reports will include trends and recommendations based upon the overall responses to this survey.
While our hope is that you will complete the full survey, we expect you will skip questions that don't apply to your school or where you don't have the information requested. This survey should take less than ten minutes to complete.
