This award will be presented annually at Tri-City Roller Derby's "Put Up Your Toques" tournament in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. The award will include a Certificate of Recognition as well as a cash bursary to help offset the costs of travel, equipment, training clinics, or other expenses as chosen by the recipient.
The recipient of the award must be a female-identifying official and will be chosen based upon the following criteria:* Demonstrated excellence in or dedication to officiating (either as a referee or an NSO)* Demonstrated mentorship and encouragement of other female-identifying officials
This award is not designed to recognize those female-identifying officials who have already "made it" in the sport (you know, the ones who have already achieved high levels of certification and who have been selected to work Playoffs year after year). Instead we are trying to recognize those who might have flown under the radar for some time.
We enjoy receiving and will consider nominations from all around the derbyverse, but will likely continue to select recipients from the pool of officials working at "Put Up Your Toques." (After all, what is more fun than being able to give an award to someone who's already in the arena?)
Please answer the following questions to nominate an official or to be considered for this award. Regardless of the date listed on the officiating application for the tournament (head over to tricityrd.com to ask about or to get an application form to officiate at Put Up Your Toques) this form must be received by Midnight EST on April 1 for consideration for the award being presented in each calendar year.
