In addition to the programming sponsored by
the Center for Public History through the CPH Lecture Series, we have set aside
limited funding to support programming by other units. These funds are intended
for events that align with the mission of the CPH Lecture Series endowment: to
promote the importance of the humanities in the professions and in the public,
and to provide the opportunity
for Houston professionals, community leaders, and others to consider
historical, social and cultural perspectives directly related to the decisions
they make.
Applications are due at
least 6 weeks prior
to the proposed event. Applicants are encouraged to submit proposals for an
event months ahead of time.
*Funds
may be used to pay honorariums, travel expenses, food, videography, and
promotional materials.
**Approved proposals will result in funds being transferred from CPH to the home department of the individual who is leading or hosting the event. The faculty member and their home department will be responsible for any contracting paperwork, travel arrangements, reimbursements, reservations, scheduling and setup for the event.
Events receiving support from the CPH Lecture
Series must acknowledge the lecture series in all promotional materials. A
branding approved logo will be provided for your convenience. After the event,
you are asked to submit a summary of the event, including the number in
attendance, and how the funds were spent for reporting purposes. If the event
is recorded, please provide a copy or link to the recording for inclusion on
our website.
Applications will be
accepted until the funds are exhausted.
