Killingsworth-Spritzer Appellate Oral Argument Competition
When: February 3rd and 4th (Finals: February 6)
Time: 5:30 - 9:00
Where: Beus Center for Law and Society
Why Sign-Up: Because you get to practice important oral advocacy skills by giving an appellate argument as either a petitioner or a respondent and will receive valuable feedback from practicing attorneys on how to improve as a future counsel... and you might get a cash prize! (1Ls: This is a great competition for you especially because you get to practice for your final graded oral argument in Legal Advocacy!)
Competitors: You will give a 10 minute oral argument for a fictitious case. Petitioners can reserve time for rebuttal at the end (1-2 recommended). Max limit of competitors: 72.
Timers: You will time the competitor's arguments. You must be available from 5-9pm. FOOD and DRINKS provided, PLUS PROBONO HOURS! Max limit of timers: 7.
Sign-ups will close on THURSDAY JANUARY 24TH at MIDNIGHT. The problem materials will be released immediately after.
IF YOU SIGN UP YOU ARE EXPECTED TO SHOW. If you don't show up, you may be banned from competing for 1 year as a lot of attorneys and students have put in time and effort to make this happen. If there is an emergency, please email asu.moot.court.board@asu and you will have to meet with members of the moot court board to contest the ban.
After sign-ups close you will receive an email with the bench memo and your day/time slot.
