Bib & Tucker Sew-Op's The March Quilts Year 5
The March Quilts is an annual community quilting project developed by Bib & Tucker Sew-Op. The program started in 2015 when Bib & Tucker Sew-Op partnered with UAB’s Department of Art & Art History and the Birmingham Museum of Art to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Selma to Montgomery marches through open sewing sessions that yielded 461 quilt blocks. Each year, Bib & Tucker members choose a civil or human rights theme and facilitate open sewing sessions and discussion. During these sessions, community members create quilt blocks that express personal feelings about the theme. Bib & Tucker members then stitch the blocks into quilts that are exhibited in tandem with a relevant anniversary or day of recognition.

In 2019 we will launch Year 5 of The March Quilts. This year, we will recognize Alabama's unsung heroines who have shaped or are shaping our future. Organizations can host a two hour March Quilts sewing session for $150.00, and all materials and facilitators will be provided by the Sew-Op. Dates will be booked on a first come, first serve basis. Sewing sessions will run from January to October of 2019. Your organization can host more than one session. Priority will be given to those who can pay the facilitation fee and to sites who work with us to create a presentation on one of Alabama's unsung heroines. We do have a limited number of fee waivers available.
