DLC Mentor Workshop Proposals
The Diversity Leadership Conference Planning Committee is currently accepting mentor applications from UW employees, UW graduate students, and community members. Our hope this year to pair up a current undergraduate student with a more seasoned professional. This will help our students develop into amazing workshop facilitators. The annual Diversity Leadership Conference (DLC) will take place this year on Friday, February 21st from 3pm-7pm. This year, the theme is: The Personal is Political: Showing Up for Ourselves and in Solidarity.
DLC is an annual event that convenes students from the University of Washington (UW), community colleges, and other college undergraduate/graduate students, staff, and faculty in a setting that aims to provide tangible leadership skills, a space for critical dialogues, and an opportunity for empowerment to cultivate actionable practice.
As a mentor, you are welcome to submit a workshop idea. Our goal is to match students and mentors interested in facilitating similar workshop ideas. Along with co-facilitating a workshop, mentors will help with the following:
- Presentation/Public Speaking Skills
- Shaping passion projects/ideas for an audience
- Sharing personal stories
- Moving conversations to action
- Dealing with Trolls/Devils Advocate
- Developing Learning Outcomes
Please be as detailed as possible in your responses.
