SKC formative assessment (ETTP parttime)
Dear aspiring students,

Welcome to the Hogeschool van Amsterdam! Before you start your training to become an English teacher we would like for both you and us to have a good idea of what the programme and commitment to the programme entail. We have therefore designed the following test.

Test conditions
The test consists of open and multiple choice questions about a variety of topics and is designed to be finished in 100 minutes. Plan a time interval of at least 100 minutes and make sure you can work alone and undisturbed. Right after taking the whole test you can view your answers, the key and feedback. They will also be emailed to you.

Scores
There are 39 points to be obtained. Generally speaking, with a minimum of 20/39 points we have confidence that you can finish the first year without delay, regarding your English skills. If you score (much) lower than 20/39 we advise you to work on your English before the academic year starts or even wait a whole year to enroll and work on your English. After finishing this formative assessment we will provide you with a list of ideas and sources to help you with your English skills.

This is a formative test; the result functions as an indicator of your level of English, and not as entry ticket. If you qualify to register at a University of Applied Sciences you are welcome to register for our programme. It is therefore very important you finish the test without any help from others or other sources, as this will conflict with the results.

Good luck!

Judith van der Kruis, Jacinta Molkenboer, Beatrix Gilbert

NB The questions in the language test were adapted from: Jakeman, V. & Kenny, N. (2006), Proficiency Practice Tests Plus, Longman
