VLDB 2021 Virtual Attendance Support Application - 2nd Round - Applicant Form
Dear Applicant,

This form is for applying for a fellowship to virtually attend VLDB 2021, which takes place in hybrid format in Copenhagen, Denmark on August 16-20, 2021 (http://vldb.org/2021). This fellowship is offered by the VLDB Endowment.

The VLDB Endowment attendance grants provide financial support to students and young researchers affiliated with universities with limited funding opportunities. Grants have a strong focus on universities in developing countries (as listed by ACM - https://services.acm.org/public/qj/proflevel/countryListing.cfm?promo=PWEBTOP&form_type=Professional) to attend the VLDB 2021 conference virtually. Nevertheless, students from all over the world are encouraged to apply.

The long-term goal of the program is to encourage talented young scientists to pursue a career in database research. The VLDB Attendance Support Program provides grants for roughly 50 virtual attendees funded by the VLDB Endowment. These will allow free registration for virtual attendees. The free registration amount will be provided by a voucher code at registration time.

Applicants must be full-time students in good standing (graduate or undergraduate) or postdoctoral fellows/researchers, who are either

* affiliated with universities that do not already have considerable presence at VLDB conferences
* have a paper at the conference (or associated events).

Applicants must explicitly state that they do not have any other funding to attend. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate keen interest in database research and are from regions that are under-represented in the database community; presenting a paper accepted at the main conference or the workshops in VLDB 2021 is welcome but not mandatory.

Applicants should fill in the form below by July 28th, 2021. Applicants must also have a nominator (faculty advisor for student applicants, or senior faculty member or department head for postdoc and research assistant applicants), who must fill in the nominator form following the link: https://forms.gle/rhXXRA5ckzSXXwXu8.

Additionally, nominators are kindly asked to send an extra email from their official email-account to: vldb2021fellowships@gmail.com by July 28th, 2021 with the subject line of the email being "VLDB 2021 Virtual Attendance Support Nomination for <name>" in which they confirm their nomination of the applicant.

Should you have any problems with opening the links or filling in the forms, please contact us via vldb2021fellowships@gmail.com.

Selected candidates will be informed shortly after the application deadline.
