The High Desert Food and Farm Alliance (HDFFA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission is to support a healthy and thriving food and farm network in Central Oregon through education, collaboration, and inclusion. We believe that everyone deserves good food - defined as affordable, nutritious, culturally appropriate, easily accessible, and sustainably produced in Central Oregon.
Definition of food equity: Food equity is the expansive concept that all people have the ability and opportunity to grow and consume healthful, affordable, and culturally significant foods (University at Buffalo).
The Food Security Advisory Committee (FSAC): The committee
will provide input on HDFFA food access programs and projects and help guide our efforts to create equity in food access in Central Oregon. The committee will be made up of Central Oregon community members including program beneficiaries, food security organizations, and the HDFFA board and staff. More information on the committee can be found on our website: https://hdffa.org/portfolio-posts/fsac/ Time Commitment: _______ one-and-a-half-hour meetings annually, held on Zoom/phone (virtually) or hybrid in-person/zoom meetings in which the location will rotate throughout Central Oregon.
Optional compensation for volunteer community members: $30/hour, to be paid post-meeting. We are currently meeting for 1.5 hrs so the total compensation is $45.
