WanaData is Africa’s first peer network for women data journalists and scientists.
We aim to do two things:
1. We use data to help amplify women's perspectives and place in major development issues; and
2. We turbocharge the careers of women data champions to help ensure that decisions are shaped by women themselves.
The network currently has 11 chapters in six countries (Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda), which meet monthly to share skills, brainstorm projects or campaigns, and kickstart collaborations. We also offer intensive 1-on-1 mentoring, and resources for collaborative projects.
WanaData is an initiative of Code for Africa.
CfA is the continent's largest network of civic technology and open data labs, which give WanaData access to cutting-edge technologies ranging from drones and sensors, to satellite imagery and software engineers.

What is your superpower? What are your strongest skillsets? You can pick more than one.
What newsroom or data science institution or other organisation do you work for? Understanding your affiliation helps us figure out how best to support/amplify your work. If you're a freelancer, add that.
Tell us a bit about yourself. What issues do you care most about or want to see more work on; on what technical topics are you an expert (and that you could give guidance on to other WanaData) and what makes you tick?
Are you a member of any other organisations/associations? Understanding your networks will help us figure out how you could help other WanaData further amplify their efforts/work.
Share links to some of the projects or other work you're most proud of.
Are you working on a project, or do you have a project idea that you'd like WanaData support on? If so, give us a short elevator pitch, including links to any data or other resources that you think would help us to understand the concept. Don't stress if you don't have any immediate project ideas: there are plenty already underway!
