NOTICE-UPDATE COVID 19

Under advisement from Special Olympics Inc. and in cooperation with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Special Olympics Virginia has released new guidelines for Return to activities.

Though we are currently in the significant risk level, we will be following guidelines to reduce risk and encouraging EVERYONE to get vaccinated against Covid 19. When a high percentage of vaccinated participants is achieved, we are able to do more sports, including team sports.

In order to create the safest environment for all participants a COVID-19 VACCINATION IS REQUIRED for participation in winter indoor sports--INCLUDING BASKETBALL, BOWLING AND SWIMMING.

Due to the direct threat that COVID-19 poses to the health and safety of our athletes, there will be no exemptions or exceptions to this vaccine requirement. Your vaccination record must also be included with your form.

Masks and social distancing will be required. Only fully registered athletes and volunteers will be allowed in the activity areas. (Family members and spectators must remain in a separate area)

So let’s get ready to return to Special Olympics sports.
1. Make sure your medical and registration is current. Download a form here if you are new or your previous medical form is more than 3 years old: https://tinyurl.com/AthleteMedicalReleaseWaiver
2. Please complete the Covid Waiver form https://tinyurl.com/WaiverInfectiousDisease
3. Send a copy of your Covid 19 vaccination record to southwest@specialolympicsva.org. This record will be filed securely with your Special Olympics Medical forms.
