China Elementary Has Zero Tolerance for Bullying!

The administrators and staff at China Elementary want every child who attends our school to feel safe and to be safe. We have an open door policy. Any child and/or parent is welcome to visit with teachers and administrators about anything troubling them. If, for some reason, your child does not feel able to share bullying incidents with us at school, please report them through this form. We will do our very best to investigate every incident. It is our desire to make our campus safe for every child. You may also call China Elementary (981-6410) and ask for Mrs. Sherman (x 3503) or Mrs. Timberlake (x 3505).

What is bullying? Dan Olweus, in his book, Bullying at School: What We Know and What We Can Do, defines bullying for us: "A person is bullied when he or she is exposed, repeatedly and over time, to negative actions on the part of one or more other persons, and he or she has difficulty defending himself or herself."

This definition includes three important components:
1. Bullying is aggressive behavior that involves unwanted, negative actions.
2. Bullying involves a pattern of behavior repeated over time.
3. Bullying involves an imbalance of power or strength.
