This 8-week online program, offered in the spring semester, is designed to provide a meaningful experience for students who show exceptional promise and passion for a future career in music education. High school juniors and seniors are selected through teacher nominations and participate in a series of workshops and classes where their own hands-on teaching encounters are supported virtually by invited guest speakers, clinicians, and mentors, representing all of the rich diversity that exists in the world of music education. The class meets Wednesdays, January 15-March 12, 2025 from 4:30pm-6pmET;
except March 5. *COST: $100.00 per person. (Scholarships will be available for financially disadvantaged accepted students.)
NEW FOR 2025: With the guidance and curriculum of Dr. Sandy Goldie, Director of Music Education at VCUarts Music, we are delighted to have a special guest lead teacher for our 5th annual cohort - Dr. Angela Ammerman! Referred to by the Washington Post as the first “music teacher prodigy,” Dr. Ammerman is the author of the Music Teacher’s Guide Series and hostess of the viral Instagram page: @musicteachersguide - visit angelaammerman.com to learn more about our 2025 guest lead teacher!
Just as the All-Virginia Ensembles recognize excellence in performance, this program recognizes students displaying excellence in teaching behaviors and characteristics - those who demonstrate leadership, empathy, commitment, discipline, passion, and a desire to help others succeed in music.
We know that these potential music educators are inspired by music, but as they take these next steps towards their future, they are inspired by you, your teaching, and the incredible experiences you offer them. Help us recognize a promising and passionate student in your program who goes above and beyond, inspiring those around them - let's identify and nurture these outstanding future teachers TODAY!
