Strategic Plan Activities Form

Thank you for participating in this process! We are excited to have your involvement. Below is a list of all of the goals and objectives that are planned for the 2015 Strategic Plan. Please identify one objective that you think fits best for this activity or task and select it in the drop-down menu below.

If you have multiple activities/tasks, please fill out this form completely for each of them.

Goal 1: Diversity and Inclusion: We embrace the discomfort of a stretching, growing and inclusive community. We strive to be welcoming and accessible for all who want or need to be with us.

Objective 1.1 Develop a shared congregational understanding of diversity and welcoming in terms of white privilege, all age groups, faith cohorts, cultural, ethnic and identity groups within the fellowship as they relate to mission and values.

Objective 1.2: Increase opportunities for intergenerational, intercultural and interfaith activities.

Objective 1.3: Increase sense of belonging among all age groups, faith cohorts, cultural, ethnic and identity groups within the fellowship.

Goal 2. Spiritual Depth and UU Identity: We believe that the work of our times requires spiritual fitness and strength and that Unitarian Universalism has a vision and values to contribute to the world. We will continue to challenge ourselves and each other to deepen spiritually in our chosen paths and in our shared UU identity.

Objective 2.1: Build on existing opportunities for deep spiritual practice in multiple traditions (i.e., Sangha, SEE, Christian group, Humanist group).

Objective 2.2: Increase ability of members and affinity groups to articulate UU identity.

Objective 2.3: Strengthen Fellowship ties to the larger UU community including the San Diego cluster of congregations (SUUN), Camp deBenneville Pines, the Pacific Southwest District (PSWD), and the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA).

Objective 2.4: Increase opportunities for lifespan faith development.

Goal 3. Right Use of Physical Space: Our physical space - building and grounds - is both a gift and a resource and our commitment is to mindful discernment and active promotion of its use, consistent with our UU principles and community values.

Objective 3.1: Develop and implement a robust plan to support regular, routine maintenance of Fellowship buildings and grounds.

Objective 3.2: Clarify congregational vision for green, sustainable building and grounds.

Objective 3.3: Develop and implement a plan for right use of physical space based on congregational vision.

Objective 3.4: Create a plan to address space needs related to growth in Sunday service attendance.

Goal 4. Relationship with the Wider Community: We are committed to building and maintaining a relationship with the wider community such that, through our actions, we convey the essence of who we are as Unitarian Universalists, and are positioned to be responsive rather than reactive to community and world events. Our commitment is to partnerships - working with rather than for - our brothers and sisters in the diversity of faith and cultural communities in our sphere.

Objective 4.1: Continue to establish mutually supportive relationships between the Fellowship and interfaith and community partners.

Objective 4.2: Clarify focus for communal, mission-driven service. (What do we care about? What do we want to contribute to the wider world together?)

5. Radical Social Justice: We feel a deep responsibility and commitment to understanding and ameliorating interlocking economic, racial and environmental crises, and fostering justice for all beings. We will actively participate in the mitigation and adaptation of climate disruption.

Objective 5.1: Clarify focus and process for mission-driven justice work. (What do we want to contribute to the wider world together?)

Objective 5.2: Engage congregation in visionary planning and action to increase Fellowship resiliency to climate disruption (economic, water, energy, food).

Objective 5.3: Develop and engage congregational activists in UU/spiritual grounding and practices for all radical justice work (how do we care for each other in this work? What is the purpose and meaning of our work?)

Goal 6. Active Stewardship: We are committed to the moral use of our shared resources, including financial sustainability, budgeting for growth, and evaluating and accepting responsibility for the financial, personal and environmental costs of our vision and goals.

Objective 6.1: Develop a forward thinking, comprehensive stewardship plan that addresses the financial health of the organization, growth, communication, volunteer coordination and fosters meaningful participation.
