The National Foster Youth Institute (NFYI) envisions a child welfare system that is transformed into a community of support centered on child well-being and lived experiences. We empower foster youth, their families, and communities to use their lived experiences to bring about systemic policy changes in the child welfare system nationwide.

To engage in our programs, you must:

Be aged 18-30
Have lived experience of foster care
Be passionate about advocating to transform the child welfare system

If you are interested in assisting NFYI as a non-member (individuals who are not between the ages of 18-30), we are always looking for volunteers and organizations who would like to assist us in amplifying and uplifting the voices of current and former foster youth around the country.
