The Office of Adult Education in collaboration with Temple University's Center for Community Partnerships, invites you to submit a proposal to present at the 32nd Annual Technology and Adult Education Conference. This year’s conference theme is "Access, Create, Explore: Digital Literacy in the New Decade". This one-day conference will be held May 8, 2020 on Temple University’s main campus in Philadelphia, PA from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Coming into a new decade, the concept of literacy is changing to capture more skills than ever before. Multiple literacies now include reading, writing, numeracy, problem solving, information and digital literacy. In 2020, digital literacy has become less of a preferred skill, and more of a requirement for successfully navigating all aspects of life and work. Our conference theme "Access, Create, Explore: Digital Literacy in the New Decade," invites adult educators and digital literacy practitioners to think about creative, student-centered, inclusive teaching strategies that assist adults to integrate technology into their lives and obtain the skills needed to use computers and other devices for accessing opportunities, creating content, exploring options that enhance the many roles they fulfill as learners, employees, parents and citizens.

The goal of the Technology and Adult Education Conference is to equip practitioners with tools to effectively support adults and opportunity youth and adults (age 16 and up) to be successful in life and work. The conference will be attended by a variety of practitioners from organizations across the Philadelphia region; including Administrators, Teachers, Case Managers, Learning Coaches, and Volunteers. Computer Instructors and Trainers, and Digital Resource Specialists.

The conference will be comprised of 60-70-minute dynamic, practice-based presentations. We are looking for hands-on workshops on any topics related to technology in adult literacy (ESL and adult basic education) and/or digital skills training. Preference will be given to workshops that align with the theme " Access, Create, Explore: Digital Literacy in the New Decade." We are seeking proposals for workshops that are highly interactive, participant- centered, that feature hands-on technology exploration. Team-facilitated workshops or panels are welcome.

We look forward to receiving your proposal!
