PARTNERSHIP FOR COMMUNITY OUTREACH APPLICATION FORM

Texas A&M University
College of Architecture
Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning

Thank you for your interest in a service learning project with the Partnership for Community Outreach (PCO). The PCO is a non-for-profit organization, so we have no direct funding to support project expenses internally. Since all PCO projects potentially incur real expenses such as travel, meals, printing, administration, etc. potential partners should be prepared to cover those costs. Please see Section 1.4 below to communicate your capacity to support such a project. Due to these realities, potential partners without financial support are likely not to be selected for engagement. Please review the PCO web site prior to completing the survey to see if you believe your project is a good fit (http://laup.arch.tamu.edu/service-outreach/community-outreach/ ). Thank you for your interest in working and learning with our faculty, staff and students.

3.1. Each application will be evaluated by LAUP faculty members based on the following criteria: • Will the project enhance our students’ learning experience? • Does the project present a potential research opportunity for our faculty? • Will the project help us enhance the reputation of our programs? • Can the project be completed with the given time and funding? • Is there a faculty member who has interest and is available to take the project? • Is there a class or student that is capable of executing the project? Evaluation Criteria: 1. While many projects may meet the above criteria, please be aware that a very small number of projects can be selected each year. There are a limited number of themed studios taught each semester, and so proposals are evaluated based-upon the studio themes and learning outcomes for the studios. Applicants whose project meets the selection criteria but is not selected in any given year will be asked to re-apply the following year. 2. Service projects undertaken by LAUP faculty and students are exploratory and developmental, are used to generate ideas and principles for the sponsor to use to move forward with its planning and development efforts. They are not intended to replace professional consultant services.
