Overview & Submission Instructions
Virginia Advanced Study Strategies (VASS) is seeking presentation proposals for our July 2019 conference entitled The Strategies Xchange: Where Business & Education Align. VASS will consider submissions that explore or highlight innovative programs and initiatives that are being implemented through strong education-business partnerships.

VASS is seeking a variety of submissions in order to provide an array of presentations with diverse representation in topics, institutional affiliations, and speakers. Accepted presentations will be scheduled for July 25-26, 2019. Please confirm your availability to attend The Strategies Xchange before submitting a proposal. You will have the option of requesting to present one or both days.
Proposals must be in the form of an abstract/summary for publication (max 150 words). The proposal should reflect innovative, cutting-edge content, defined partnerships, and evidence-based practices. The session itself should be led by a speaker from each side of the business-education partnership. Sessions should be designed to stimulate and provoke discussion and audience engagement while providing diverse approaches for different types of learners. Finally, the proposal must include three learning outcomes for the session.

All proposals must be submitted using the online form. Plan your submission in advance as VASS recommends that you collect the information you need before completing this form. Applicants with similar proposals/topics may be asked to combine sessions. VASS reserves the right to change or edit the title and description for clarity and marketing purposes.
Primary Contact
The primary contact is the person submitting the proposal. VASS will communicate with the primary contact who must share information as needed with co-leaders and/or panelists.

Selected proposals will receive two complimentary registrations. All speakers, moderators, organizers, assistants, etc.facilitating the session must register to attend The Strategies Xchange.
Commercial Bias
Presentations are intended to educate the audience rather than promote a specific product or service. Exhibit and sponsorship opportunities are available for promotional purposes. If you are a supplier of products or services, please be sure your content is educational in nature, neutral and unbiased and free of commercial motive/intent.
Speaker Agreement
The primary contact must ensure that speakers are compliant with copyright laws and have ownership or permission to use all materials used in conjunction with the presentation. Speakers must demonstrate high standards of professional conduct and not discriminate against learners based on gender, age, socioeconomic or ethnic background, sexual orientation, or disability.
Evaluation & Review Process
Proposals will be reviewed by members of VASS staff and its partners. Each proposal will be evaluated according to the general criteria listed below.

- Overall quality of proposal

- Proposal highlights innovative practice involving education-business partnership

- Presentation speakers represent both sides of the highlighted education-business partnership

- Relevancy of content to The Strategies Xchange audience

- Well defined learning outcomes

- Diversity among organizations and proposed speakers

- Presentation addresses the The Strategies Xchange theme

- Proposal includes a plan for audience engagement
Accepted Strategy Xchange proposals will receive free conference registrations for up to two speakers. Additional speakers would be required to register for the conference at regular price. Once your proposal is accepted, we will send you a code to use for registering for the conference.
