Merry Christmas! It’s a wee bit early for some of us perhaps, but it’s never too early for the kids! The towns of Rothesay and Quispamsis invite you to participate in the 25th Annual KV Santa Claus Parade.

This year’s theme is “A Silver Christmas - Celebrating 25 Years”

The parade is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 25th, 2023 beginning at 6pm from KVHS travelling along Hampton Road to the Marr Road/Clark Road intersection.

If your business/group/organization would like to participate in the parade please complete and submit this online application form by November 20th, 2023.

If you are unable to participate in the parade, we encourage you to decorate your home/storefront/business location in the spirit of the season! If you are having a special event please let us know through Facebook. STANDARDS AND CONDITIONS FOR ALL PARADE ENTRIES:

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL FLOAT ENTRIES:
Santa Claus will be on the final float – all other entries are NOT permitted to have a Santa as a part of their float.
MUST have at least 500 lights
Organization's registered name MUST be displayed prominently on the float for identification purposes. Your float banner MUST clearly identify your group and be lit.
MUST have at least 4 adult SAFETY SPOTTERS (walkers) to accompany the float for safety to prevent
        spectators from getting in the path of the vehicle. Safety Spotters MUST wear reflective safety vests. Let us know if you need to borrow some from the Parade Committee.
•      Parade participants aged 18 and younger MUST walk in front of their float so drivers can see them at all times.
•      Float riders: There MUST be at least 1 adult for every 12 children positioned on the float.
•      Generators MUST be properly secured and ventilated. All other items must be properly secured.
ABSOLUTELY NO HANDOUTS are to be given out along the parade route by float riders nor walkers, as it encourages spectators to run out into the street. (no flyers, coupons, candy, etc.)
All music MUST be family-friendly and played at a respectable volume
NO smoking, possession of alcoholic beverages, drones, pyrotechnics, nor open flames permitted on the parade route.
Maximum height of entry MUST NOT exceed 13 feet (from the ground up) due to low power lines.
Minimum length of 18 feet required for total entry (combination of float, vehicle, walkers, etc)
Stand-alone wrapped cars, trucks, or SUVs are not permitted. Lowbeds, lift jacks, go-carts, etc. are recommended.
•      Float drivers must have one million dollar minimum Liability Insurance if float will be transporting youth aged 18 and younger.  
All vehicles in parade must be in good mechanical condition and properly serviced. Any entry encountering mechanical problems which slow the progress of the parade, must pull out of the route immediately. On parade day, a safety inspector will be on site to check all vehicles for working headlights, tail lights, brake lights, horns, trailers, and proper driver's license and insurance.
•Vehicle wheels cannot be obstructed - the top 1/4 is okay to cover.
•No dangling feet.
•Railings on trailers are a MUST
•License plates are to be visible.

SCHEDULE AT A GLANCE:
2:30-3:30pm – ALL FLOATS must be dropped off during this time frame. The parade committee will assign parking locations for floats when they arrive on the KVHS property the day of the parade. Floats MUST arrive to be parked between 2:30-3:30pm. NO ENTRY to floats arriving prior to 2:30pm and after 3:30pm.
4:30-5:30pm – ALL PARADE PARTICIPANTS must be dropped off at the KVHS front door. during this time frame. Float locations will be posted in the lobby. Children are to be attended by a chaperone at all times. There is NO PARKING for any vehicles at the KVHS property.
ALL PARTICIPANTS must be dropped off at Rothesay High School at the end of the parade route. As per the provisions under the Motor Vehicle Act it is illegal for floats to travel past the parade route with riders. Groups are to coordinate prior to parade day. Float riders MUST disembark from the back of the float ONLY. The main contact for each parade entry will be sent a sample email message to customize and share with group.
5:45pm – ALL FLOATS & PARADE PARTICIPANTS must be organized and be ready to start the parade.
6:00pm – KV Santa Claus Parade begins. Staff will alert each float driver when to join the procession

GENERAL INFORMATION:
All entries are subject to the acceptance or rejection of the Parade Committee. Entries may be rejected on parade day if they do not meet the regulations or conform to the description given on their parade application form.
Accepted entries will be provided with detailed information regarding driver and participant instructions a few days prior to the parade. Line-up positions will be given to the driver upon the float’s arrival at KVHS.
THERE IS NO PARKING ON THE KVHS PROPERTY ON PARADE DAY as it limits emergency vehicle access. Please park on nearby streets or arrange to be dropped off.  Vehicles parked on the KVHS property will be fined and could be towed.
Beginning in 2016 a Sensory Friendly Zone for families of children with sensory issues was created located within the Quispamsis Elementary school zone (from Autumn Avenue to Pinewood Crescent). Sirens, horns, flashing lights are not permitted in this zone.

FLOAT CONTACTS AND DRIVERS MUST ATTEND AN ONLINE MEETING ON MICROSOFT TEAMS ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 21ST AT 6:30PM.
