Providence School Board Testimony

PVD CORE, the Providence Caucus of Rank-and-File Educators, is collecting testimony for the upcoming Providence School Board meeting on Wednesday, June 18th to encourage the school board to make a recommendation to RIDE to rescind the recent non-renewals of several beloved educators who have lost their positions in PPSD.

When a teacher is non-renewed, they are no longer able to keep their current teaching position. They are also not allowed to apply for other similar positions at other schools in the district and are essentially banned for the rest of their careers from teaching in Providence. Non-renewed teachers are expected to continue teaching in their current positions through the end of the school year.

We are gathering testimony in one document to demonstrate wide community support for these student populations and educators. Please see the testimony guide for more information and help drafting your comments. If you personally know one of the educators, please share a story about them so we can show the incredible impact they have had on our school communities.

If you would like to sign up to read or share a piece of your testimony at the meeting, or if you would be available to read testimony from affected students or staff, please email boardservices@ppsd.org requesting to speak during public comment on 6/18.
