Torbotics Virtual ASTRO CAMP Interest Form
WELCOME! In light of the difficulties presented by COVID-19, we will not be able to hold our annual camps face-to-face this summer. This was a major let down for the team as we all enjoy getting to plan these camps each year and getting the chance to work with so many amazing kids.

Excited about this year's NASA - ASTRO CAMP curriculum and opportunities, we have decided to make these camps a virtual experience.

We will be offering three week-long virtual ASTRO CAMPS, with each one providing different lessons and engaging activities. The Sunday prior to each camp, families will be sent a link to a Google Site developed for that week. The site will incorporate pages detailing the activities for each day. Team members are creating videos for each activity; showing you how to do the activity or experiment and explaining more about the science behind it. There will also be written material and additional videos provided for each activity and links to interactive games created by NASA.

The team will host 3 Zoom meetings for campers each week of camp. The first takes place on that Monday to welcome campers, explain how to use the site and play a fun game. The second takes place on that Wednesday to engage campers in either a special activity or guest speaker depending on the week. The final Zoom meeting takes place on that Friday, allowing campers a chance to share any of their creations from that week.

Since these camps are a huge source of fundraising for our team each year, we are asking families to please consider donating to the team as a part of their participation. The money raised from our summer camps typically goes to pay for our annual competition fees ($4,000 - $5,000 per competition) and the purchase of robot parts. We are recommending a donation of $35 per family per camp. Checks should be made out to Hammond High Magnet School with "Torbotics Camp" written on the memo line and sent to the school. Regardless of donation amount received, all families who register for our camps this year will receive the link to participate.

We're excited to have your family join us virtually this summer! This is our third year to collaborate with NASA to bring ASTRO CAMP to our region. So...LET'S get ready to the moon, Mars, & beyond with NASA science!
