Things to keep in mind/Questions to ask ourselves:
1. Has my scout joined the troop in the last school year and is Scout, Tenderfoot or unranked? The First Year Camper Program (Pathfinder) should be your scout's first choice. *Sometimes this program sells out  or the scoutmaster will determine the scout should take other merit badges. Continue to make additional choices so the coordinator has information for your scout's choices.
2. What are the prerequisites and can my scout complete them before summer camp?
3. Does your choice have a prerequisite merit badge? Has that merit badge been completed or will it be at summer camp?
4. Does my scout have a partial merit badge for archery, rifle or shotgun? If so the "qualifying" block is the best choice.  
5. Will this be your scout's 2nd time at Hawk Mountain and they are 14+? Chances are your scout has many merit badges and is looking for a bit of an adventure. Check out Project COPE for your advanced camper.

Please be aware that all choices are not guaranteed and are subject to availability of the classes. Also, merit badges cannot be selected for your scout unless the current payment schedule for the camp is up to date.
