NETBALL
Wellington East Girls’ College has a large number of netball teams competing in the Wellington Netball competition with approximately 24 teams in 2017.

Terms: Term 2 and 3

Cost: $140 for the season

Trials: All students will need to trial and will be placed into teams.

Teams are selected through a trial process undertaken in Term 1. If a player is unable to make trials they need to contact the WEGC Netball convenor on tina_peter@xtra.co.nz or the sports director sports@wegc.school.nz at least two days prior to the trials. Players unable to attend trials for any reason will be placed in a team at the discretion of the selectors.

TRIAL DATES: All trials will be held at WEGC
Senior A, B and C trials are open to all Year 11, 12 and 13 players.

Open Trial Sessions for Year 11/12/13 (Senior A/B/C level) Thursday 22nd February 5.00pm – 7.00pm

Senior A / B callback 5.00pm – 7.00pm Monday 26th February
Senior A / B (Final callback) 5.00pm – 7.00pm Tuesday 27th February

Trials for all other senior teams – Trialists to attend both sessions (yrs 11-13)
Year 11, 12 and 13 3.30pm – 5.30pm at WEGC courts Monday 12th March
Year 11, 12 and 13 3.30pm – 5.30pm at WEGC courts Wednesday 14th March

Junior Team – Trialists to attend both sessions on 3rd and 10th March
Year 9 9.30am – 11.30am Saturday 3rd March
Year 10 12.30pm – 2.30pm Saturday 3rd March
Year 9 12:30pm – 2.30pm Saturday 10th March
Year 10 3.00pm - 5.00pm Saturday 10th March
Junior A & B call back (combined yr 9 & 10) 3.30pm – 5.30pm Tuesday 13th March

Team Structure:
• Junior A and B - Combined top Year 9 and 10 players
• Year 9 only teams
• Year 10 only teams
• Senior Teams - Combined Year 11, 12 and 13 players.
• Social teams – senior students only. Senior Social teams do not need to trial. A list of players (minimum 10), name of
the adult team manager and an umpire must be provided to Pip Caughley before 10 March.

No student can trial until the registration fee of $140.00 has been paid (or an automatic payment set up) and any unpaid accounts from 2017 settled.

Competition: Teams will play at the ASB sports centre in Kilbirnie or the outdoor Hataitai netball courts on Saturdays, the time and venue, depends on the grade. School teams play in Collegiate grades against other school team except for the some senior teams which play in the Women’s Premier Competition. Premier and College competition will commence in early May and goes through until the end of August.

Coach and Manager's: We are always in need of coaches and managers. Coaching support is provided. Please indicate your interest below.
