In this survey, you will be asked to provide an example of an action, program or project that addressed disaster risk reduction while at the same time addressing COVID 19 prevention or mitigation. This action may have occurred prior to the pandemic but impacted the preparedness for both disaster and the pandemic, or it may be an action in progress now or planned for recovery. Please provide just one example per survey entry. If you have more than one example, please complete the survey an additional time for each additional example.

After providing your example, you will be asked questions about interlinkages, transformative pathways, and also challenges or gaps.

We recommend you read through all of the questions before beginning your response.

Section I. Examples of Effective Action toward DRR in the context of the Pandemic
1.a. Please provide an example form your work that illustrates the intersection between COVID 19 preparedness or recovery and Disaster Risk Reduction. If you do not have an example of an action already taken or in progress, please skip to Section III. "Gaps, Challenges, and Barriers."
1.b. What actions have you taken to reduce the risks to persons with disabilities?
2. What challenges did you face in the action described in Question #1?
3. What characteristics of the work most contributed to its success in reducing disaster risk while creating preparedness for and readiness for recovery from the impacts of the COVID 19 pandemic?
3. What characteristics of the work most contributed to its success in reducing disaster risk while creating preparedness for and readiness for recovery from the impacts of the COVID 19 pandemic?
4. Did this action include a government partnership (local or national) in any way? Yes/No

5.a. If you answered yes to Q4, please describe in what way government (local or national) played a role.
5.b. Please describe ways in which local or national efforts, both governmental and non-governmental, played a role in addressing biological hazards and risks; in what way did these strategies help (or not help)?
5.c. How can efforts to reduce biological hazards as a measure for reducing pandemic and disaster risks be strengthened?
6. Cross-sector Interlinkages: In the cluster of questions that follows, please check yes/no to each sector that played a significant role either through partnership or through integrated action in the example you provided of DRR linked with COVID 19 prevention or mitigation (Note: these are separate items so that they can be more easily inputted into the data for analysis)

7. The Global Sustainable Development Report notes 6 "entry points" or "transformative pathways". As these often overlap with Disaster Risk Reduction, which GSDR transformative pathway best characterizes the interlinkages in the example you provided? Select the one that best encompasses the work or was the centralizing feature. To read the GSDR, go to https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/gsdr2019

Section III. Gaps, challenges, and barriers
In the next few questions, you will be asked to describe the challenges, gaps or barriers you are experiencing in doing the work of disaster risk reduction and resilience building (please focus on risk reduction and resilience rather than response) within the context of the COVID 19 pandemic for various aspects of DRR work.
8. Communities: What challenges, gaps, or barriers for DRR are you seeing in communities as a result of the pandemic? Please also note barriers to specific vulnerable groups including but not limited to persons with disabilities, women and girls, LGBTQ, racial or ethnic minorities, older persons, or others.
9. Human Resources: What challenges, gaps, or barriers for DRR are impacting human resources (examples: employee wellbeing, moral, availability, or ability to work) as a result of the pandemic?
10. Logistics: What challenges, gaps, or barriers in logistics for DRR are you facing as a result of the pandemic?
11. Funding: What challenges, gaps, or barriers in funding, budget sufficiency, fiscal compliance, salaries, or other fiscal component for DRR are you facing as a result of the pandemic?
12. Material resources: What are the gaps, challenges or barriers to obtaining or making use of the material resources needed for disaster risk reduction in the context of the pandemic?
13. Partnerships: What challenges, gaps, or barriers for DRR partnerships or multilateral cooperation are you facing as a result of the pandemic?
14. Policy: What policy gaps or barriers are impacting your ability to address disaster risk reduction or resilience in the context of the pandemic?
15. Other: please share any other challenges, gaps, or barriers that impede disaster risk reduction in the context of the pandemic.
Section IV. Solutions or recommendations
16. How might nature-based solutions be part of a combined both pandemic and disaster risk reduction? Please share any current work in this area, lessons learned, or areas that could be strengthened to maximize nature-based solutions
17. What lessons learned from the COVID 19 pandemic response could be applied towards DRR and enhanced awareness and action for risk informed development?
18. Based on your experience, please list your top 5 recommendations for improving our ability to reduce the risks of disasters in the context of the pandemic or in the recovery phase.
Any other thoughts you wish to share you may place in this area
