In this survey SOCIAL NETWORKING/ONLINE COMMUNITIES refers to being a member of a website or online application that has all of the following characteristics:
2. A common public place where members can meet and interact
3. Having more than 2 communicators
4. Having a sustained membership over time.
It is important to note that some websites can serve many functions, a website is only considered an online community if you use it like that primarily. For example, youtube can be interactive or not depending on how you use it.
The survey is completely anonymous. The results of this survey will be analysed and published at the University of Vermont. If you opt into the raffle and win you will be asked to provide your social security number for payment. Your name, address and SSN will be disclosed one time to the University of Vermont’s Procurement Services Department for the purposes of reimbursing you for participation in this study. Your information will be coded and this code and the information will be kept under lock and key with only authorized personnel accessing the data. Your information will be kept confidential.
