Quick heads up, we decided to keep our store front closed for March and possibly April.

During this last lockdown we starting broadcasting Live Shopping Shows on FB as a means to try and survive. To our surprise not only did we survive, but we thrived. Our vendors have seen sales and growth greater than they did in November and December!! And that's saying a lot, because Nov/Dec were incredible.

On top of that, our staff and volunteers all feel safe to come to work. The anxiety of working with the public during a pandemic is real and being able to remove some of the stresses we're faced with is a true gift. Everyone feels a real sense of relief not having to ask people to sanitize and wear their masks properly, or break up disputes about people standing too closely, or asking our valued customers to wait outside for someone to leave so they can enter.

----- B A C K S T O R Y -----

TMH got it's start in 2017 by introducing a new, safer and more professional way to do business. A centralized pickup service for online makers.

The owner, Cheryl, brings years of retail management and visual merchandising experience from Canadian retailers; Jacob, Dynamite and Jean Machine. As well, ran her own successful handmade business in Durham for 5 years. Cheryl has worked in customer service for over 25 years and takes great pride in delivering an incredible customer experience.

In 2020 TMH won first place in the Reader's Choice Awards for 'Best Boutique', 'Best Online Boutique', and 'Best Distribution'. This was extra special for us, as it was voted on by the people of Durham. We will be working hard in 2021 to honour our status of #1.

We recently moved to, 1380 Hopkins St Whitby. The new location is prime, easy to access and offers loads of parking.

Rent
$30-$150/month +hst

Commission fee
12% +0.30/transaction fee

Stock storage (optional)
$15/month +hst

Rent is based on display type and size. Display will be agreed upon between TMH and vendors before commitments and payment are required.

Optional stock storage on site is a great way to keep your display restocked and limit the need to visit weekly for replenishments.

With our high value on providing a customer focused experience, we do not charge our shoppers any service fees at checkout to shop with us. Instead we ask our vendors to build the cost of business into their pricing. This creates a better customer experience for our shoppers.

----- R E Q U I R E M E N T S -----

To be accepted, vendors must have a creative, handmade element to their process and finished product.

***Food vendors must work in a Dinesafe approved kitchen, hold a current Food Handlers permit and business insurance.***

***Bath & Body vendors are required to have business insurance and industry compliant labeling.***

***Clothing vendors require a CA number***

New vendors are committed to a 3 month term to start with option to renew monthly based on sales, market trends, seasonal demand, and/or The Maker's Hub's discretion.

---- V A L U E -----

TMH provides all vendors with a seller's dashboard. This dashboard syncs with our point of sale, allowing vendors to be notified of sales real-time, receive sales stats, manage stock and more.

TMH provides detailed monthly sales reports.

Payouts are made monthly by direct deposit.

We provide visual merchandising and restocking.

ADT security and cameras on site.

Safe, secure, tracked and trusted, pickup service.

Vendors are not required to build a display, but may be asked to supply props, similar to what would be used at a pop-up market, to assist with displaying their products.

Security deposits are NOT required.

During lockdown, our retail store will still be operational through live shopping shows. We are working on adding a special collection to our website to showcase our retail products. This collection will not be available to purchase through the website, but shoppers can call the store to purchase remotely.

If you are interested in joining our website as an additional sales channel, there is a monthly fee of $34.95/month (+hst) and a separate application.

----- S U P P O R T -----

At The Hub, we love to support our vendors. Some of the ways we do this is through our private vendor's group, knowledge sharing, transparency, networking, video tutorials, Zoom Maker-Meetups partnered with the BACD, and of course sharing tips and tricks we've learned over the years. Our motto is Community Over Competition and that's truly the heart of what we do.

When you sell with us, we treat your products as if they were our own. We not only take pride in sharing and promoting them to our customers, but we care for them as well, through ongoing daily tidying, merchandising and restocking.

Typically we like to meet all potential vendors in person to get to know your business and products, but given Covid limitations we are now offering online applications.

TMH is Durham Region based. Our application is open to Durham and surrounding regions.
