Introduction and Statement of Purpose
This resource is an empathy-based privilege and oppression awareness intervention that can be used by anyone to engage in difficult dialogues surrounding the issues of privilege, oppression, and racial stigmas.  This interactive activity follows character profiles of different demographic. The activity will present users with a variety of different decision scenarios that interact with their chosen character’s ability and resources.

Following the activity, the developers recommend engaging in conversation in order to take away a deeper understanding. To help with impactful conversations, the game ends with a debriefing and discussion guide. This guide also reflects on the outcomes of the game, its connections with real life inequality, and the role that privilege and oppression might play in the users’ own lives. Understanding change comes through actions, we present more outside resources and actions points in the guide as well.

This resource is for education and learning purposes only. Developers understand we are presenting a simplified view of life and life’s adversities.

Enjoy!

Bible Study
Throughout the Adventure, you will come across various scripture verses. When you do, we invite you to take a moment to reflect on the scripture and how it could apply to the situation. At times, there will be a short devotion following the scripture to help make those connections and encourage deeper reflection. The verses will also be in the description of the image for those who have difficulty reading text overlaid on images.
“When Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, he went to the synagogue on the sabbath day, as was his custom. He stood up to read, and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written: ‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, / because he has anointed me / to bring good news to the poor. / He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives / and recovery of sight to the blind, / to let the oppressed go free, / to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.’ And he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him.” (Luke 4:16-20)
