Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.  -- Philippians 2:3-4

Mission teams serving in partnership with GBHT work in communities that live at or below a subsistence level (in extreme poverty) in Nairobi, Kenya. Why do you want to serve on team that would minister alongside GBHT in these communities? *
Serving on a GBHT team requires team members to be sensitive to and respectful about Kenyan cultural differences. For example, GBHT is a "right to life" organization and abortion is culturally taboo (as well as illegal) in Kenya. Are you willing to learn about required cultural sensitivity from GBHT leadership and to respect those differences even if it means remaining silent in contexts where it would be inappropriate to voice a differing viewpoint? *
Participating on a GBHT team requires the ability to walk up and down narrow pathways that are sometimes muddy (slippery) and at other times dusty (slick). (Nairobi is at a higher altitude than Denver, which can make climbing more challenging). Serving on GBHT team requires the ability to stand and walk around for up to an hour to two hours at a time. Do you have any physical or medical conditions that would make it challenging for you to engage in these activities without assistance? *
If you answered "yes" to the previous question, please describe the physical limitations and/or medical limitations that might impact your ability to participate in team activities.
Do you regularly take any prescribed medications (not over-the-counter medications) for daily pain control? *
Do you smoke or vape? *
Do you have a valid passport? *

A short-term mission trip is not a vacation. Serving on a short-term mission team requires complying with the decisions of the team leader during the travel portions of the trip as well as while serving in Kenya. Are you willing to commit to following the instructions of team leadership? *
Provide an example of a time when you served on a team and you submitted your personal desire/opinion to the decision made by the team leader or team itself. *
Do you suffer from high anxiety or any other psychological or emotional condition that might impact your ability to serve in an entirely new and unfamiliar environment? *
If you answered "yes" to the previous question, please elaborate and describe.
What is your biggest fear about traveling and serving as part of a short term mission team that would serve at the Hope Center in Kibagare? *
Please provide any additional comments that you believe are relevant and important to share in support of your application.
