History:

• dating back to 2007 when Hospitality Club was still ruling.
• Mont Royal Camp is one oft the oldest ongoing annual „Couchsurfing Camps“.
• since than, the camp has slightly changed it’s character
• paying respect to years passing by, Mont Royal is seeing more and more families & children participating every year
Location:
========
• Mont Royal Camp takes place in Traben-Trarbach, a small town in the picturesque Moselle Valley
• The city is famous for its Riesling wine, its Art Noveau architecture and its rich history
• part of this history is the ruined Mont Royal fortress, once the largest and strongest in Europe
• once the home to the fortress, Mont Royal hill has become the location of our camp site
• surrounded by nature and in walking distance of he city, it is the perfect base for various activities.
Non-profit:
=========
• Mont Royal Camp has always been non-profit
• money we receive is only used to cover costs, to make some investments into the camp and to built up a little financial security for next year's camp
• if the profit becomes too big, we make donations
Run by volunteers:
===============
We will need the help of all participants to make Mont Royal Camp a success!
We hope you will participate in our events, offer your own workshops, take over duties and most important, to help take care of each other.
We need volunteers on a daily basis for:
================================
• shopping for breakfast
• setting up breakfast
• cleaning the toilets
• cleaning up the campground
• helping taking care of children
• offering workshops
• offering activities
• being in charge of planned activities
Respect:

• Our target is to provide a safe environment for everybody.
• Take care of each other!
• Respect personal boundaries!
• Don’t be offensive!
• Support, whenever someone is in need!
• Don’t hesitate to ask for help!
Pricing:
======
• €5 for each day, €10 for Fridays and Saturdays
• this price covers camping, the usage of all infrastructure and a simple breakfast each morning
• fees for activities and excursions are not included in this price
• the participation fee is to be paid at the campsite
Infrastructure:
===========
• a camping ground that can host approximately 250 people
• a half-open wooden hut for various activities and for shelter
• a bonfire pit in the bunkers of an old WWII anti-aircraft gun
• a little BBQ hut
• a small building with several toilettes and sinks
• a tab for drinking water
• a self-built cold water shower
• a small plastic pool
• a trampoline for children
• a hi-fi system
• two community tents for sleeping
Sleeping arrangements:
===================
• for the first time we will have an area designated for families
• please bring your own tent
• Mont Royal Camp means camping in tents, not in cars!
• exception: camping caravans
• please bring your own tent
• if your tent is bigger than needed, please consider hosting!
• we can offer a space in community tents if you cannot bring or find a tent
• we don’t offer mattresses and sleeping bags
Parking:
======
• parking directly on the campground is only allowed for caravans
• parking options for cars are all within 300 meters
Open Fire:
========
• In the case of ongoing draught, open fire will be forbidden without
• In that case: no bonfire., no BBQ on wood or coal
Smoking:
========
Smoking will only be allowed in designated areas
Food:
=====
• a daily breakfast is included in the participation fee
• aside of breakfast, everything is self-catering
• various supermarkets can be found in town
• a limited number of food can be stored in our trailer-fridge
• please bring your own cutlery, mugs and plates
BBQ & Cooking:
=============
• the BBQ grill will be accessible around the clock
in case that open fire is forbidden, we will provide two gas grills
• we will provide a little stove, a water boiler and a coffee machine
• please bring your own pans and pots
Drinks:
======
• we sell beer, alcohol-free beer, wine, sparkling water and soft drinks (nearly) around the clock
• you can bring your own drinks to the camp, however you won’t be allowed to use the fridge for your own beverages
Waste:
======
• please try to produce as little waste as possible
• please use the bins and ashtray
• pick up waste whenever you see it
• if you want to leave something back at the camp, ask beforehand i fit is needed
How to get there?
==============
• the camp is a 30 minutes walk away from Traben-Trarbach
• if you are lucky or well connected, you will be able to find a lift uphill
• if not… well: 30 Minutes of walking
• Traben-Trarbach has a train station which connects it to the rest oft he world
• 20 minutes away by car there is Hahn airport (Wizz Air, Ryan Air). Unfortunately there is no easy and regular connection from the airport to Traben-Trarbach
• please offer ride share if possible
Program:

We are still looking for volunteers that
• offer workshops
• offer evening entertainment (like pub quiz, Bingo!, etc.)
• take offer responsibility for already planned events
• to be our DJ, especially on Saturday nights!
