Students at The New School Stand with Our Teachers and Peers
The union for academic student workers at The New School (SENS-UAW) has been in contract negotiations with New School administration since August 2017. In all these months, the administration has refused to negotiate over economic proposals, delaying access to much-needed healthcare coverage, wage increases, and child care funds.

The administration’s stalling tactics at the table are hypocritical and in direct opposition to the values of social and economic justice on which The New School was founded. In response to the stalled negotiations, SENS-UAW has authorized the bargaining committee, with a vote 99.4 % in favor, to initiate a labor stoppage -- a strike.

We, students of the New School, recognize the legitimacy of the SENS-UAW bargaining committee and the decisions made by the same.

We, students of the New School, support the validity of the demands of the SENS-UAW bargaining committee in their current negotiations with the administration.

We, students of the New School, support our teachers and colleagues in SENS-UAW in their legal right to strike, whether or not they choose to exercise this right.
