MTSS Behavior Training Series
WDE will host a Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS) Behavior Training Series for the 2017-2018 school year and 2018-2019 school year. The first year of training will include implementing and supporting a strong Tier 1 behavior support classroom that aligns with the Multi-Tiered System of Supports. The 2018-2019 training series the focus will be on Tier 2 and Tier 3 framework.

For the first year, Tricia Berg, doctoral candidate at of the University of Oregon, will lead districts through several in-person and online activities including Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), developing a matrix, lesson planning, reinforcement systems, and consequence systems.

Due to the amount of material covered during the training, it is suggested that teams should be large enough to represent the entire staff, but small enough to ensure all material gets covered in a timely manner. Administrators are expected to be committed to PBIS and be an active participant during the training. It is recommended that teams consist of representatives from different grade levels or content areas, an Administrator, and a specialist. In developing teams for the training please consider general education, special education, other specialists (counselor, school psychologist, art/music/physical education teacher), paraprofessionals, and/or parents/guardians. It is important that most, if not all, team members can commit to all the trainings.
