We are asking each exhibitioner to prepare a short (5-10 minute) simulation, demonstration, activity, or interactive component to help students learn about what you do in a more memorable, hands-on way. What ideas do you have for an interactive activity at your booth? The activity can be as simple as giving students a stethoscope and teaching them to listen to a heartbeat or asking students to answer three short questions at the end of your presentation.
Note: This event is carnival-themed because we'll have activity booths, carnival-themed food, and prizes won with tickets, but don't be intimidated and think you have to put together some elaborate carnival-game activity (unless you want to!).
Another important thing to keep in mind is that all of our students speak English as a second language. Some of them have been in the country for years and speak English quite well (though literacy is another story), while others have arrived within the past few months and will struggle to understand everything you have to say. Avoid complex vocabulary or career-specific jargon unless you clearly explain what it means. Sometimes, simplicity is most effective; this is also what makes hands-on demonstrations beneficial, so keep this in mind when designing an activity.
